The process to change your avatar on Discord using the desktop app as well as on a web browser is the same. Here's how to do it:

Step 1. Open the Discord app on your computer, or go to Discord.gg to open it on a browser, and log in to your account
Step 2. Click on 'User Settings' (gear icon) at the bottom-left of the screen, next to your username

Step 3. Click on 'Edit Profile' next to your username

Step 4. Click on the 'Change Avatar' button

Note: You can also click on the current profile picture

Step 5. Choose an image to set as your Discord avatar in the file explorer
Step 6. Resize or align the image to get the right fit

Step 7. Click on 'Apply'
Step 8. Click on 'Save Changes'

Note: If you want to remove your current profile picture and go back to the default avatar, click on 'Remove Avatar'.
